Starting Training

Filling in your name. Try to use the correct name on your form. Only joking, we'll skip these steps - I know you've got that covered!  Below you will find all of the things that I wish someone had told me when I started training!

Training should be an exciting time for you. If you're at your first day of flight attendant training, this means you've been selected out of the thousands of applicants who applied to be right where you're standing. Go ahead; it's time for a pat on the back!

Start by walking in those doors confidently and start chatting it up with your new classmates. You're all in the same boat (plane?) and interacting with each other will help ease not only your nerves but others as well!

Remember that while at training, you are being watched. Your recruiters and instructors want to see how you interact with people, how you deal with stress, how you work under pressure, and just purely if you are enjoying your time at training, so, the key word here: SMILE 😃. Make sure you are courteous to others, open doors, strike up conversations, offer help and so on.

You've heard the saying "If you're early you're on time, if you're on time you're late." Right? Well this applies during training too. Remember when I said you're being watched? Well, this is a way to really show them you're excited and eager to get into class and learn more, not only that but that you are punctual and professional.

Dress to impress! You'll have a list of things to bring to training ahead of time. This will include attire. It is almost always business casual. Dress like you're still interviewing for the job (because if you think about it, technically you are... you have to pass training first, and that begins with looking good 😉) You'll really only need a few pieces that can be recycled and interchangeable and if you're trying to pack light, this is a great tip…. The basics include a blazer, a couple of dress pants/skirts/slacks, and some nice blouses/button ups that are easily interchangeable and are always a classic professional look.

You'll more than likely be receiving your flight attendant uniforms a couple weeks into training so then you're ready to toss the business casual and suit up in your new flighty gear! This is when it gets real. It's amazing. That first day you see yourself in your uniform, ah, and wait until you get to add your wings!…well...you'll see! 😃
